Dr Denise Furness

“Understanding methylation and biological ageing: A pilot study”

Dr Furness is an award winning medical researcher, international speaker and author. Also a CSIRO trained Molecular Geneticist (think of her as a Holistic Geneticist). Dr Furness has been working in the field of nutritional genomics and personalised health for almost 20 years. In 2012 she founded Your Genes & Nutrition and began working with integrative G.Ps and learning about functional medicine.

1. 2003-2007: Doctor of Philosophy, CSIRO Human Nutrition and The University of Adelaide Medical School, Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Folate nutrigenomics and DNA methylation in pregnancy). 2. 2007-2012: NHMRC Postdoctoral Fellow, The Robinson Institute, Research Centre for Reproductive Health, University of Adelaide (Nutrigenomics Research Leader) – currently an associate – still publishing https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32720760/ 3. 2012 – current: Founded “Your Genes and Nutrition” started as a brick-and-mortar integrative medicine clinic in Melbourne, now a virtual clinic. 4. Published multiple papers in peer revived journals – Furness DL et al. One-carbon metabolism enzyme polymorphisms and uteroplacental insufficiency. Am J Obstet Gynecol 2008 – this paper won the international SMFM “Award of Research Excellence” in Dallas, Texas at the Annual SMFM conference. 5.
